noelle walker, ktvu channel 2 news. pg&e says 3500 customers are in the bay area without power. the hardest hit area is the peninsula, 1,780 outages there. south bay, 680 without power. fure than that in the north -- fewer than that in the north bay, 650. east bay 380 and san francisco 30 people. pg&e says the number of outages is so high because this morning's repair was outnumbered by more pick up in the wind. at 5:20 p.m. we will check in again with bill. also at 5:30 p.m., to the mountains, where crews are working hard to clean up the mess.

mess. great highway workers -- san francisco general hospital workers were told to shelter in place after a man was spotted with a gun. it started at a145 -- at 1:45 p.m. this afternoon. it ended a hour later with three people detained. >> there was no activity in the hospital and no interruption to patient care. we are grateful this was a minor incident. >> there is no word if they were arrested or if a weapon was recovered. >> police are asking for the public's help to catch a man suspected of sexual assaulting a student on saturday morning, april 6 in a dorm room. the man met his victim earlier in the evening off campus. the attacker is not a student. white, 21 years old, 6'1", brown hair and blue eyes. anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

a robber shot and wound a donut shop owner but not before the owner stabbed the man. the wife opened the shop around 3:00 a.m. the owner then came at him with a knife and stabbed in. the man shot the owner three times as he fled. the owner went to the hospital and expected to be okay. >> oh, my god, that is down the street. that is where i go in the morning. i was just there the other morning getting my breakfast. >> police haven't released a description of the attacker. the wife says he is 5'8", wearing all black. fire and explosion forced families to run for safety about 3:30 a.m. on angel avenue. when firefighters arrived flames were coming from a roof. they were whipped by winds that

a jogger discovered the body of giselle esme ayala. she graduated from santa rosa high school and a student at cal poly san luis obispo. the autopsy may be weeks before a cause of death is established. authorities recaptured a inmate. 21-year-old kohlton kumnick was missing from the marsh creek detention facility in clayton when deputies did a bed check this morning. an alert went out and this morning a person spotted kohlton kumnick and called police. he was serving 90 days for burglary. she was one of the most dominant figures of the twentieth century. former british prime minister margaret thatcher died at theagy of 87. -- at theagy of 87 -- at theagy

. new mexico investigators are looking into had cause of a deadly school bus crash today.
